installing firing pin spring

checking with my local gunsmith, i asked him if their was a tool on the market for installing the large spring that slides down around the firing pin. Model 70 winchester. he said he knows of none and uses a vise or vise grips at times.. does anyone at gun brokers have a better mouse trap for doing this task.

    I wish I could help, but maybe I can I think Winchester would tell you not to attempt to try fixing this. As it can be a tough task. Let a good gunsmith fix it or send it back to the factory.

    Yes indeed , if you dont have a local "smith" that can do it , send it into win. and know thats its done right , of course you make the investment of the tool from timney ?????? good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
