Are semi auto shot guns more effective then pumps
Comments
A semi-auto would probably...NOT be as effective for a new shooter. The reason...new shooter would rush shoots with quick follow-up shots. One well-placed shot is more effective but it takes PRACTICE for most people to become a good wing/rabbit shot (I assume we are discussing hunting, the same will apply to self-defense. Remember the 12Ga has substantial recoil even in a semi-auto if you rush shots and are off balance or are not WATCHING YOUR BACK a semi-auto will not save you.).
On the other hand..if you put in the practice for using a shotgun effectively AND efficently (two different things) a semi-auto can have its advantages...especially in a self defense situation where you may be injured in one arm/hand.
NOTE: There are guys out there as fast with a pump as any semi-auto...it can be common actually. They are practiced and have guns with slick actions. Some can handle the same pump gun one-handed as well...either hand.
My best (and last) advice...actually two pieces.
1) Buy the best damn gun (high quality and you believe it FITS you) you can afford. Wait an extra month or two if necessary.
2) Take a practical shotgun course or two. Some clay bird courses at a local club. Self defense...NEAR ME (Cinn., OH there is a wonderful course conducted bt TACTICAL DEFENSE INSTITUTE, in Adams County. Visit their website: http//www.tdiohio.com
course open to the you
