It may just be the area I live in, but I think that SKS prices are a little high on gunbroker.com. Sometime even what I'd consider obserd or wishy washy. I've seen an average everyday Norinco SKS listed for $250. No one bid on it of coarse, but the last one I ran across here in town went for about $125. If your looking for a good deal on an SKS, I personally think the best plave to look is either in Shotgun News or Gun List magazine publishings. Alot of times people will buy them out of there and then try to resale them on gunbroker marked up.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

There are a lot of different sks's available out there. The quality and place of manufacture will dictate the price.

Yea, thats absolutely true. You see alot of the Yugo mausers on the market, cause the importers just got abunch in, they go anywhere from $159-349 depending on quality and markings. The Romanian SKS's were going for about $129 at the cheapest 6 months ago, but all the distributors dried up, so now you see them for about the same as the Yugo's. The Russians seem to be the most expensive and desireable, I just don't see very many of them around, and people always want an arm and a leg. The only more expensive SKS I can think of other than a russian would be the Chinese paratrooper SKS, its a little shorter than the full size SKS, and they can't be imported anymore. People love them, and asking prices show it. Albanian SKS's just hit the market, seeing them for $229.99 in shotgun news this month, we'll see where they go from there.

There's also a few SKS's that were made with the capability to accept AK magazines. They are very desirable, and way over priced. I've seen AK's cheaper than people ask for some of them. And the funny thing is you can buy a nice acutally reliable conversion kit, I think it has to be installed by a gunsmith, but would be cheaper than buying a factory one. I don't know what the legalities behind doing it would be though.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
