Sounds like you waited one more week than I did! I had 6x18 Redfield that wouldn't fit with the rings that came with it so I took a 3x9BSA off of a 597 just so I could shoot it. It shot well at the ranges it should have. I did clean the bore prior to shooting. 4th shot was zeroed then I shot 4 more shots and had a little 6/10inch cluster at 65 yds. 3x9 would probably do just fine. I bought a set of high Millett 22 rings Friday and mounted the 6x18 on it just to see what it would do. Was to busy yesterday to shoot much but did dhoot 5 shots at 50 yards and zero the big scope then late yesterday evening it killed a groundhog at 136yds. You could watch the bullet hit him!! Let us know what you put on and how it shoots. I still haven't sat down at the bench and shot it. My zeroing was done off the truck hood and a bag. I'm sure I can ring some decent groups out by using the bench. Also try to limit your varmint shots to the head and neck!! It is quite deadly but if you get lower down you're going to have one crawl off!! Been there, Done that and I'd rather miss!!!GHD

Don, I just happened to have the Redfield in the safe and figured that's what I'd put on but it wouldn't fit. After putting it on and shooting it a little, I like the high power. Must be one of those vestiges from BR that stayed with me. I let a friends 13 yr old son shoot it this evening and he connected at 140 yds! This thing is more fun than eatin' beans!!! I can't wait till I can ring it out on the bench during a real R&D session! Wonder when drop in trigger kits for Marlins will hit the market? I'm going to work tomorrow and design one. That's the only fault I have with the gun so far. If I'd never shot anything but factory triggers I wouldn't know any better! GHD
