Hi-Viz Sights on S&W

Anyone have any experience shooting an S&W with the Hi-Viz green front sight. I'm buying a Model 66 with one. I think my chief concern is durability, but I could always change it. It looks like it might really help accuracy as long as there's enough ambient light.

According to the S&W website, these are made of polymer. Polymer being what's used in the Glock sounds like it should hold up. If anyone has these sights, your experience would be appreciated.

There good sights in my eyes any way, I think they show really well in bright light as well. Funny just finished a class that was about defensive use of the hand gun and the instructor brought up a good point. Seems as if everyone is worried about seeing their sights at night. But more than half of L.E. shootings occur during day hours, and you should have sights that work well in low and bright light as well. I think you will like them!!

    Good Luck.

I don't have the hi-viz on my Smith. But I do have the Hi-Viz on my Kimber and I do have a optic rod on my Smith it is not a Hi-Viz though. And both have lasted over a year with niether one breaking.

Rugster made a very good point about how obsessed some people are about seeing their sights at night. Granted there is need to see your sights whenever you shoot, I think the problem at night is less whether you see your sights then that you can clearly identify your target and know that it's appropriate to shoot. Night sights don't help much in that regard. I'd much rather have a flashlight in my hand than night sights on my gun.

Proof of the pudding: I do shoot well with the sights. I also seem to shoot pretty well when the booth light was out--most of them were in the black when the sight was dark. Not sure what that means...

The only thing that's bothering me is that I really like shooting wheelguns now. Will force myself to take a semi auto to the range just to make sure I haven't lost my mind.

I bought some from Brownells for my 629 Performance Center...couldn't make up my mind on red or green so I got both, I like the green the best...they really work well for hunting. One of the best ideas to come along in years.

Ok I am sorry but I am confused. I thought you were asking if the optic rods were dependable as far as breakage. The sights do not help in the dark as the only intesify light so if the is no outside light source they do not shine. From what I have seen written the green is for bright sunny type conditions and the red is for cloudy lower light type conditions.

My concern was durability, but I'm always skeptical of the technology too. Apparently these should be just fine on both counts.

Better watch out now!! Sounds as though the wheel gun 'bug' has bitten you. This highly contagious disease can only be helped by more acquisitions. Only temporary refief can be had by infecting others with the virtues of a revolver.
