Another Para Ordnance / CCW Question

Greetings Experts!

Earlier I posed a question about a specific Para Ordnance handgun (the C6.45 LDA). I think I may need to ask a more generalized question about Para.

What are your experiences with Para Ordnance as a company in general?

I have heard that they are some of the best 1911 style guns produced. But by checking some other boards, I've seen some posts saying that they are all junk. They say they are unreliabel, they jam frequently, and that they are generally a POS.

Then to confuse things further, I hear folks say that Para Ords used to be junk but that in the past couple of years (with the release of their LDA trigger system) that they are now great to own again.

I'm so confused!

What are your personal experiences with Para Ordnance?

I'm looking for a very small, powerful (.40 - .45), accurate, reliable carry weapon (aren't we all?!?) Glock 36, Kahr p40, Beretta 9000S, Taurus Millennium, Kimber??????

I just know I want it small enough to carry regularly and I don't want a single action (I won't carry cocked and locked).

Any ideas or advice?

HiCap-I own a S/S P-14, a P-13, a P-14 LDA. All have proven outstanding handguns. All are outstandingly accurate. I am currently being tempted by a S/S single stack LDA. I was a little disappointed by the quality of the factory finish on the P-13 when I refinished it a couple of years ago; but the function and accuracy have always been good. On a scale from 1 to 10 I give them an 8.95. Your fear of "cocked and locked" carry is, however, without foundation. As for small and powerful, my preference runs to revolvers. As a gunsmith, I have seen enough small, powerful autos come in for repair and/or tuning to believe that the design idea hasn't been fully developed.

To began with if you want to carry cocked and locked that puts the Glock,Beretta and the Taurus you mentioned out of the question. I own a Beretta 9000s and carry it as a back up gun. I can say I would not want to give it up because it exceeded all of my expectations. AS for the Para my P16 has never given me any problems. But if you are hearing alot of negative feedback I would study the matter before I invested that kind of money in a gun your not confident with. Give them a call and see what kind of warranty they give you, as it varies from State to State. The big one is adapting to the trigger on the Para, once you do the rest is history.Hope this helps.

    Good Luck.

I have never heard anything bad about Para-Ordnance pistols. My experience is just the opposite. My LDA 1445 is flawless. Apart from P-o's illogical refusal to put an alloy frame with the stainless parts, the product line from top to bottom is outstanding.

The original P10 sub-compacts used to have a problem with failure to feed. PO stands behind their guns and will make it right. The newer models (limited and lda) are superior in quality and worksmanship and we have not had to send any for warranty work.

Thanks to all who replied. I really appreciate your input!

Based on your feedback, I feel a lot better about trying out my first Para Ordnance.

I'm going to take quite a bit of money out of my Cigar Fund to pick up the Para Ord C6.45 LDA, so I want to be sure of what I'm getting!

I'll report back to let y'all know what I think of this next addition to my arsenal.....Ummm, I mean collection!

    Thanks again.
