Is it one of the controlled feed models. FN made some of them for Sears.

According to the list in Numrich book the model 53 was a
    Winchester model 70.

If it is a model 53, it was made by Winchester. I have one, blue with synthetic stock.
The FN models I believe are the model 50.

I have a Ted Williams, from Sears, in .270, made by FN. Good shooter. Got back two weeks ago from shooting prairie dogs in Texas/Oklahoma. I was using Remmington 700s, Anschutz, CZ; my friend was using Savage .222 & .223 (stock except for Canjar trigger) and he made a believer out of me. Don't overlook Savage, I don't own one yet, but I will.
