Any information on a Mauser shotgun needed. Were they training guns? Factory or sporterized? Receiver says Germany and serail # 71xx. Bolt face has been altered and extractor also. Has proof marks on bbl. Stock has also been reworked. Thanks for any info. E-mail me at: DEin2000@aol.com

I ASSUME YOU HAVE A REWORKED M-98 MAUSER IN 12GA. (OR 16GA.). THESE WERE MADE UP AFTER WW 1 ON SURPLUS RIFLES BY MODIFING THE BOLT, RECEIVER AND STOCK (AND THEN SELLING THEM TO US IDIOT AMERICANS). ACTUALY THEY WORKED FAIRLY WELL IF YOU DIDN'T LOOSE THE BOLT HEAD (IT IS HELD IN PLACE BY THE EXTRACTOR AND A COUPLE OF GOOD INTENSIONS).

There's a really informative article on these in the book "Bolt Action Rifles" by Frank de Haas, revised edition 1984.
If you don't have it, give me an email.
