I have been hunting for a year now using a .22 glenfield.I hunt squirrels and have had good luck and quite a bit of fun . I have thought about using a magnum. Could use some comments or suggestions. Would a magnum be to powerful?

I been wanting a revolver for a while and doing some research Taurus makes some decent revolvers looked at some at my local gun shop ant they look good, it sound kind of interesting the 22 magnum, I want something fun to shoot but at the same time not to expensive and generaly 22 is not that expensive I know 22lr is cheap to shoot so how expensive is 22magnum?
I buy most of my ammo from walmart I think I seen prices but Im not 100% sure, also when it comes to recoil what wuold you compare to?
and the particular gun Im looking into is the model 971 has a 6.5" barrel and mostly is going to be target shooting so I would think the longer the barrel more acurate, opinions, sugestions?

Is there a current manufacturer for a .22 magnum auto? Is the AutoMag ll 22 magnum durable? Are ther parts available? Should I bid on an Automag ll 22 magnum? In the meantime I purchased a Taurus 941 5" and a Ruger Contenter SS Slab side. Did I do OK?

I want a .22 magnum, my wife says I dont ned any more guns, but regardless I'm getting one. Whats the best choice for the money?? I've thought about the Winchester 9422, Ruger 10/22, or the Remington 597. Looks I like the Remington, but I hear it jams a lot. Money I like the Remington also. Remington says they fixed the problem, but two dealers told me they didn't. HELP!!

SPEND THE MONEY AND BUY THE WINCHESTER. YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID. THE OLD ADAGE STILL APPLIES. "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"

I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

I had a Winchester 9422 22 mag, it functioned flawlessly and was accurate also. How do you feel about a bolt action 22 mag? I have a Marlin heavy barrel, stainless, synthetic stock in 22 mag and out to 100 yards, its great! I find the bolt actions a little more accurate than the lever guns.

If you are looking at new guns only, I would say that for the money, a Bolt Action Marlin is hard to beat at $200 or less.

To tell you the truth I own a couple of those guns you mentioned in .22mag. But my Marlin Model 25mn is my favorite, there all good shooters but I feel the Marlin has the edge.

if money wasn't an option i would go with the ruger 77/22mag i have had proablems with my 10/22 mag i also own a winchester 9422mag a great gun but i like the bolt by ruger better

If you're not squimish(sp)look into an Anshutz. Very accurate, good looking, best trigger I've found on a rim-fire. I own three at the time (one 22 and two 22 Mag's) and I wouldn't sell any of them. Caution
They are not " WALLET FRIENDLY" too purchase. Quality costs............

    H&K,
For the money, It's hard to beat the Marlin 25MN. Extra clips are inexpensive also. My personal preference is a bolt action with a clip magazine. If you want to spend a lot more, I like the Ruger 77/22 mag with laminated stock, and heavy stainless steel barrel. Tough decision to make, buying guns.

I have both the win. 9422m and a Marlin 25mn and love both, however for the money the Marlin is clearly the winner. It is also quite accurate and will do anything my friends 22hornet will do. Magazines are inexpensive and Marlins accu-groove barrel seems to not be ammo sensitive. Just about anything shoots well in it. Good Luck!!
