GHD's 17HRM ACCURACY

OK, Finally sat down at the bench on the bags and shot the "bitty gun" (222Mag is known in my circle as the "little gun" so the 17 had to have it's own name. The 25-06 is "devastation supreme" and the 7mmMag is "Big Dog"! I was astounded!!!! At 100 yds it avg. .449! So I set the targets for 200 yards and avg. .877!!!! There is a significant bullet drop associated with the darn thing at 200 yards but with that kind of grouping I will have a confirmed kill tomorrow both by range finder and also on video in excess of 200 yards!!! The cheat sheet is on the stock and the varmints will heed the call of their airmail invitation home!!!! GHD

    Liketoshoot, Yes I've heard of them, even owned a few. Most accurate was a Savage model 65M. This thing is new and I wanted to try it so I got one. I like it!! I haven't hat a 22Magnum that could shoot what this thing did today!! As far as the Remington597 Mags. go, Dale Earnhardt got the first one, Rick Mast got the second one and I got the third one!!! I gave mine to my dad so he could shoot blackbirds out the bathroom window if he wanted too. The bullet selection for the 22Mags is growing by the day! They still haven't got one that can outdo this little beast!! The only place where I think the 22Mag has this thing beat is when you're shooting a B&C buck in the neck with artificial sunlight!! The little gun will blow up to quick and it can be a pain in the butt to find one in the dark!!! Just a little humor!! GHD

    GHD GOT TOO SHOOT MINE TODAY ,BUT NOT BEING ABLE TOO REALLY BAG IT IN .I REALLY LIKE THIS CARTRIDGE,BELIEVE IT WILL PUT THE 22MAG OUT OF BUISNESS.(AND I JUST BOUGHT A REM 597 MAG ALSO LOL)WHAT KIND OF DROP ARE YOU GETTING AT 200 YDS ?WERE YOU SIGHTED IN AT 10YDS ?THANKS IN ADVANCE

    ddhotbot, I sighted mine in at 1.5 inches high at 100 yards. I then went to 200 yds and shot the groups mentioned in the first post. It was 6 inches low at 200 yards! But it shot 2 groups at 200 yds that averaged in the .800's!!! There are a hell of lot of centerfires in the world that can't do that!! There are even fewer (on a percentage basis) 22 Magnums that will do it!! As I stated last night I would have a confirmed, ranged, witnessed kill at 200 yards today, at 12:14 EDT a groundhog was mailed his airmail invitation home at a measured 202yards!!!! Struck in the left jaw and terminating in throat area he departed the green fields of home after sticking the tail up and crawling approximately 6 ft! That is about the maximum range that I think you have enough energy to kill at. I will have another post on here shortly that is more significant than the 200 yard shot. Stay tuned. GHD
