I need some opinions on the Browning Hi-Power pistol.

I am thinking about getting one and need a little input from members who have some experience with them.

    Thanks

Is it normal for the hammer to require an unusual amount of pressure to cock or does the unusual pressure indicate a malfunction or problem?

Does anyone know a top notch gunsmith that can fit a Browning Hi-power with a 2 or 3 slot combat trigger and Novac Low Mount sights?

Does anyone know in what year Browning quit making the Belgium made Hi-Power with the fixed sights and the nice blue finish?

Have a couple of questions about Browning Hi-Powers:I understand they made some in .30 Luger, is this true? Does anyone know if they were a limited run, how many were made? Also, I seriously doubt it, but was there ever such a thing as a Belgian made .40S&W Hi-Power (not "Assembled in Portugal")? .40S&W came out since assembly was moved to Portugal, correct? Finally, the current Hi-Powers are marked "FNMI". I haven't seen one in person but are they assembled in Portugal but just not marked so on the slide? Thanks in advance for any replies.[This message has been edited by Blokey (edited 03-08-2002).]

I just bought a Browning Hi- Power 9MM silver chrome NIB with 2 pre ban clips. Just wondering what retail price should be or did I get clipped?

One of my favorites.....NIB probably 600-700. My carry gun is a 9mm silver chrome, Craig Speigel grips and C&S hammer, 17rd mags. Haven't found anything I like better. From the creative mind of John Moses Browning to your hand, these have been in production for nearly 70 years...enjoy!

Lots of nifty goodies available from Cylinder & Slide... http://shop.cylinder-slide.com/clickcartpro/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=10870&pg=store&sub_pg=sub_cat&ref=16::14

600-700 is about the going rate, I have both the 40 cal and 9mm versions. the 9mm sitsin the vault with maybe 100 rounds through it and the 40 i use at the store. Wise choice in a weapon and will give you several yrs of reliable service, enjoy

of the five pistols that I own..I like my browning the best. Dad gave it to me a few months back and its the best shooter I own. fixed sights and all, I shoot better with that gun than any other gun I own. Truly a great firearm.

You have chosen a fine handgun not knowing what you give for it I could not say if you got a good deal.I think they sell in the $500.00 range.

    Good Luck.

Thanks for the offer guys, but like I said, I am still saving for my last gun. I promised my wife that I will only get one more hand gun, the Hi-power, so I want to make sure I get the best. Not saying that your's are not the best, it may be, but I am still trying to raise my Hi-power fund so I can get the ONE I am looking for. I'll start my hunt in a month or so. I'll keep your email's and get back to you when I am ready in case you still have them. GD
