Hello I think from your serial You have a 1902 MILITARY model the grooves should be on the back of the slide and more like those on early PRE 1970 colt 1911 and 1911A1 I will get back with more info later . they were sold on the open market not to the MILITARY ."PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN_"

You should be able to ID yours from the coltautos website. Note that the 1902 Colt autos and the 1903 Hammer are pretty much alike but for the shorter slide/barrel of the 1903. The 1902's are generally worth several times the 1903 values

Here are tyler's photos, which I posted for him. I sent him the posting procedure, so I am sure that he will do it himself the next time.

It looks to me like it has 40-50% finish, but I think it might still sell for as much as $500.

Its actually a Sporting model. The Military model had a square butt.

Hello the pictures from stewart02 look to me that it is a 1903 POCKET HAMMER but the slide looks longer compared to the grip frame in the same gun pictured by NMYERS I think it is a 1903 pocket what say the rest of you ??? Karl

    I agree it's the 1903 Pocket Model. It should have a 4 1/2" barrel.
The 1902 Sporting Pistol had a 6" barrel and grooves on the front of the slide.
