Gibbs is what Navy Arms renamed themselves, after they moved out of New Jersey to West Virginia. One of their products there was a British .303 SMLE military rifle, that was reworked for our 45-70 cartridge.

Here is a photo off the net, I'm not sure if they were reworked SMLE's or how many 45-70 cartridges they would hold?

Does it look like a British Enfield if so it is for a 45-70 Gibbs converted Enfield like mine. There are other Gibbs Rifles try Google Gibbs Rifle.

Confusing situation there. As there could be two different Gibbs rifles turned up by GOOGLE. A gunsmith named Rocky Gibbs from Idaho, reworked Mauser's, Springfield's, Winchester's etc. During the 40's & 50's for his proprietary cartridges. As far as I know none of the rifles he reworked used external magazines?

    2. 7.62(308)for the 2A Enfield Conversion they made (10 shot)

+1 for Rocky. I had a 300 Gibbs on a Springfield, second most accurate rifle I ever shot.
