Hi, Experts. Proofhouse is a web site that provides DOM by serial number for various models of firearms by various makers, including Winchester. Is their information on Winchesters accurate? Thanks Jim

    Jim,

In a simple word, NO, it is not accurate. The good news is that the Winchester Arms Collectors Association (WACA) website will in the very near future have a serial number look-up feature that will provide the correct year of manufacture for most of the pre-1964 Winchester models. As the WACA Historian, I was asked to provide the correct DOM information to website designers so that it can be used to create a user friendly tool for people such as yourself to use.
