I am in need of a trigger guard for my 1st Gen Colt. I had a few questions though. I know there were changes with barrel threads, bolts, hands, and a few other things. I was not sure a out trigger guards.

My 1st Gen is from 1902. I'm not sure what markings were on them around that time other than the serial number. I'm not even sure about the Verified Proof mark. Any help would be appreciated. I'm hope to have it restored since its really pretty much an old beater now.

There is a new 3rd Gen trigger guard on GunBroker now. Would this fit on a 1st generation gun?

    Thanks

No, 1st and 2nd gen will interchange. Either one will have to be fitted to the gun, and then the grips re-fitted.
    What's wrong with the original?

Just a FYI the model 1860 Colt army will also fit and give you a longer/taller grip really gives you a good feel on a single action. and looks good as it is Brass. If you would like to see what it looks like double click my user name and I can send you a picture I have Ainsworth proofed trigger guard and backstrap with original grips that is all matching I can put up on the auction side.

The Colt I have has everything right but the trigger guard. It looks to be an older Italian trigger guard sanded to the white. There's one one GB now for $100 and the only other I've found that would be correct is $250.
