Are the first 2 didgets of serial no. The model??? Got a 38 6" da blue 14xxxxxx ser no I'm guessing. Can't find and don't know tanx

The serial number will always be on the bottom of the grip frame (the handle). On older guns, it may also be stamped on other locations. You may have to remove the grips to see it. Sometimes we can tell the model if we have the serial number.
We can always be more helpful if we have photos.

EDIT: Glad to help. The "model" of your gun is "K-38 Target Masterpiece" or "K-38 Combat Masterpiece", depending upon sights. It was made in 1952.
