CLEANING THE RUGER 10/22 - 2nd POST

1979 Ruger 10/22. Well took off the stock and barrel dropped the action. Sprayed everything with non- chlorinated brake cleaner. Took the trigger and bolt all apart. Soaked the parts for 4 hours in Shooters Choice Bore Cleaner. Thoroughly brushed the parts and resoaked. Wiped them down and gave all the parts a very light coat of oil. Scrubbed out the barrel, reassembled it all. Runs like a new rifle.
Thanks for all the help [:)][:)]

    pirate2501,

Glad to hear that. Just be sure you get all that Shooter's Choice removed. It, and some other ammonia based copper eater's, can raise havoc on some parts.

You can save a lot of work by taking the trigger group and bolt all apart maybe once every 5 years under normal use. I clean and lube the outside of the bolt but do not take it apart for normal cleaning.
