Do you have the tools? If not, it pays to sell the 7.62x39 upper and buy the M-4 upper. The gas tube should be the same if both barrels are the same length.Just the barrel and bolt need changing to change calibers.

thanks for the reply, yes i can come up with the tools, will a bushmaster bolt work in the colt carrier and with the colt m4 barrel? or do i have to use a colt bolt? if so who has just the complete bolt, the colt 762 bolt and carrier i have are like new, so replacing just the bolt seems like a good idea!

Carriers are universal and will fit any AR . Just change the bolt.An interesting conversion if you have the 7.63x39 bolt and mags is the 6mmPPC which is a super accurate cartridge. Barrels are available from Olympic. At one time I wanted to make up a 6mmPPC and could have used the 7.62x39 bolt but found a 6mmx45, which is the 223 necked up to 6mm,with dies cheaply. The PPC is better and a little faster.

I agree with v35 :"sell the 7.62x39 upper and buy the M-4 upper"

ITS STILL UP IN THE AIR WETHER TO SALE THE 762X39 UPPER COMPLETE AND REPLACE WITH THE M4 UPPER COMPLETE, ANY IDEA WHAT THE 762 UPPER IS WORTH? ITS IN REALLY GOOD CONDITION ONLY 140 ROUNDS OR SO THOUGH IT.

See the www.ar15.com website before you make your decision. It's the source on AR info.

I have an original Colt 7.62 x 39 lower with a .223 upper. I was thinking of converting it back to 7.62 x 39, but did hear that these had lots of trouble feeding. The person I bought mine from said that was the reason he changed it to .223. If you decide to sell your upper and magazines, list your email address and perhaps we can get together.
