Hi, I got a gun given to me about two years ago. Its a Remington Wingmaster 28 guage, model 870LW. Its in extemely well condition, and i have only shot it 5 times, i stopped using it as i got older and realized it wasent good for what i needed a shotgun for, anyways i was wondering what the value of this gun is, im not interested in selling, it was given to me ny my deceased grandfather, Even educated guesses are welcome.

I'm not an expert on shotguns and remington 870's are in the millions but I do know that smaller ga guns are worth more than 12's. The blue book lists a small ga lightweight model that was produced on a smaller than standard frame with a 25" barrel in fixed choke (F or M). If this is the gun you have, the value is about $450. If its a plain wingmaster the standard frame your looking at $250-300. In any case it's your Grandfather's. Hold on to it, treat it well and give it to your grandson. Good luck and good shooting.

If you are needing a goose machine --- then this is not it. If you are needing a duck machine --- then this not it. If you need a Sandhill crane machine --- then this is not it. If you are needing a slug machine for deer/hogs --- then this is not it.If you need a quail/snipe/woodcock machine --- I would include costal marsh rails, except your profile says your in South Dakota --- then this IS it.If you have a good pair of SOUTHERN trained wire-haired or short-haired pointers that don't flush pheasant 45 yards in front of you, but HOLD and YOU flush the pheasant 15 yards in front of you,----and you are using number 5's or number 4's --- then this IS it.(Thank you but I have hunted pheasant in Nebraska, Kansas, and Okalahoma and found a 28 gauge to be quite sufficient behind a good brace of dogs. However---I am always open to an invitation to hunt in South Dakota.)Other than that, I am going to have to second"Piadea's" motion. I also vote for hanging on to this gun and passing it on to YOUR grandson. If you choose not to, and decide to sell this gun, then PLEASE put up a "Calling AdamsQuailHunter" notice and I will gladly respond. I will be happy to give your "Grandfather's" 870LW a new home and respect his memory.

Thanx for all the input i was just wondering what it was worth, i had no intentions to sell it at all, What kept me from using it was that I hunt goose, duck and pheasant, and we dont have any dogs at all. I'm 17 so I do alot of road hunting and walk out all of my pheasants. The other gun I have that i got for x mas 3 years ago is a mossberg 835 ulti mag, it's a good gun for me, Of course im always thinking about upgrading to something newer. Does anyone else hunt around here ? I live in Yankton, so i hunt alot of Yankton County and the surrounding areas.

I saw one sell at a police auction about 4 years ago for 600 bucks.
