Colt new frontier 22 interchangable cylinders

Can anyone tell me if 22lr and 22mag cylinders are interchangable between guns. Or are they factory fitted to a specific gun.I have the mag cylinder(the thief left that much)and I want to replace the gun.Will it work???

    Most manufacturers say that a revolver needs to be returned to them for fitting of a new or replacement cylinder. It is important that the gap between the end of the cylinder and the forcing cone of the barrel be within specifications. In addition, the cylinder must index properly.Neal
