I origionally wanted an HK G3A3. Too expensive. I have been told that the CETME .308 is a more accurate rifle from the bench. Besides it looks very similar. Can I get black plastic furniture for the CETME. The CETME is in my price range... $500. What is your opinion on the CETME as apposed to the G3A3. More accurate as I have heard or not. Pro's & con's please. What maker/configuration do you recomend I purchase. Thanks

Visit www.hkweaponseystems.com. They are very open to alternatives to the strickley HK brand. I, myself have only Hks, but the Spanish forunner, the CETM is a good shooter and much less expensive than the Greman/Portugese G-3. They share many of the same accessories and both have "the" same delayed bolt/boller action. Best, Robert

Michael The Cetme's that your seeing for $500 are not true Cetme's, they, like their HK clone counterparts are also built on American made receivers using parts kits taken from surplus weapons ... a "real" Cetme is in the $3000+ range. That being said, the Cetme clones seem to be made from kits that are in better condition than most (but not all) of the HK clones, as with any of the kit guns you need to look it over closely, paying special attention to the bore & frt sight (make sure its straight and not cocked to one side). I would becareful about replacing the stock so as not to run afowl of the legal parts count. Tapco has a American made stock kit that will fit the Cetme, it doesn't look as good as a German HK stock, but its legal. It costs about $60 and new Cetme 20 round mags for about $10ea ... good luck!
