I am looking for information on an Army 45 Automatic made to commemorate D Day 1945. The info on gun is: Auto Ordnance Corp. M1911A1; only about 1000 made, gun is gold plated. Would appreciate any info and suggested vlaue. Thank you

Every week or so we get a question about "special editions" guns. You may want to check the archives.Generally, these are ordered from a gun manufacturer by an organization or distributor. Few collectors want them, and no book lists current value. They may sell for little more than the regular version of the gun, even though original cost was substantially more.My WILD GUESS is that your gun would sell for $300-400, but only putting it up for sale will get you a precise answer.Neal
