Break in period for a 1911?

I just got a brand new Springfield V-10. It's an impressive gun but stiff. This is my first 1911 model. I loaded the mag with silver tips and it didn't want to feed right away. Same with the JHP's... is there a break in period where you've gotta slam it a bit?christian

My V-12 was stove piping the casing for the first 200 rounds. Dealer that sold it to me said that springfields has a 500 round breakin period. I only had a feeding problem for the first few rounds. [This message has been edited by just-shoot (edited 03-18-2002).]
