Favorite Gun Oil

I was wondering what is the favorite gun oil most people use. I'm talking about after cleaning and getting ready to put away for a few weeks. I've heard bad things about 3 in 1 when used on guns. I personally use G96 in an aerasol can. Thanks.

    I've been using RIG oil (#2 light oil and #7 heavier oil) and grease for a while now and I've only heard positive things about this stuff.Apparently it's been around for years and for good reason.

    I use BreakFree for cleaning and have used Rig grease for thirty years for storage.

    Tri-Flo. Started using when it was called Tri-Flon about 20+years ago. Had used WD-40 to that point but for some reason it no longer worked very well for my needs. Your comment about 3in1 oil reminds me of a stock finish formula (mainly for touch-up use), that an old gunsmith from Wisconsin, gave me years and years ago. Equal parts of shellac, ether, and 3in1 oil. It worked well. The ether was a drying agent. The shellac gave it gloss and body and the 3in1 kept the shellac from becoming brittle. However, given the use many people put ether to nowadays, can you imagine trying to by some and explaining to the pharmacy that you are making GUN stock finish? Yeah, right! A point of interest perhaps. ZEP 45 is exactly the same thing and I can usually get it for about 2/3s the price of Tri-Flo. A big can lasts about as long as the Energizer Bunny.     Rem oil or Castrol synthetic. I use Beechwood Casey Sheath on the outside before they go into Bore Stores and at the end of a day of hunting before they go into the case for the night.

    Military surplus LSA (medium weight), the best for short to mid term (months) storage and a great lubricant. You should be able to find it at surplus stores or gun shows.

    I usually use RemOil, or for longer term (though not too long) regular 10W30 motor oil. If it don't rust in the car, I figured it wouldn't rust the gun! For really long term, I use Hoppes gun grease.

    I use an aerosol called ( no pun intended) ZEP-45. It is teflon based works great! i get it at automotive and hardware stores. Also great anti-rust. About same as Rem Oil, just much more for equal price.
