Ruger P95 Stainless

Had one priced to me today for 339.00. Is that ballpark or should I look elsewhere? This will be my first foray into auto pistols other than a Browning Buckmark. If you want to know anything about 700s, or 40-X or other quality bolt guns I can hold my own. But I don't know squat about these pistols!!

You can't go wrong with a Ruger and the price sounds about right.

Sounds like a pretty fair price new. Have seen them a little cheaper at various dealers, but that is a very good price. I bought mine for that during the Ruger rebates in December 01. That's a darn good pistol as I have put nearly 2,000 rounds through mine in 3 months with no problems.

I picked mine up locally for 328.90 cash (pre tax). I had to work the guy a little to get him down to that, but it wasn't too hard armed with the pricing info I got off of the internet. Throw in the $40 rebate that Ruger was offering at the time and I couldn't refuse!I absolutely LOVE my KP95. It shot perfectly right out of the box with no mods, and after about 3000 rounds, it still shoots more accurately than I can aim. Some say that it is top heavy, but with a full clip it is well balanced in my hand. I like the way it fits in my hand. I also looked at the Glock series of pistols, but they were too big for my hand. The recoil is consistant and easily managed and breakdown for cleaning is a breeze. All in all, you can't go wrong with the Ruger Kp95. But the best advice I've ever gottn (or given) is to shoot one before you buy one whenever possible (no matter which gun). (Actually, the best advice I've ever gotten was "Marry that girl before she comes to her senses!", but I feel that probably doesn't apply here).Hope you enjoy the Ruger as much as I enjoy mine!

DITTO!!! HAVE ONE, LOVE IT! mine was $289 after the rebate. You will enjoy the handgun. Fired a couple thousand rounds of ammo thru mine with out a problem. I even have a thirty round clip for it is definetly not top heavy with that in lol. I agree very easy to tear down, and put back together, and hey it's pretty darn accurate too!!! Best of all it will take any kind of ammo you want to feed it. enjoy !!

I've heard so many people say so many good things about these guns. I'd get one but I wish that I didn't find them so damn ugly! I know that aesthetics shouldn't matter, but to me these things are just-over-the-top ugly. Is there any way to change the grip panels, or they a part of the frame of the gun like a Glock?

Nahhh.....They aren't ugly! It's all in the eye of the beholder. I like the two tone look of the polymer lower and the stainless upper. To each his own (I'm actually one of the few who thinks Glocks are ugly....go figure!)As for the grips, they are part of a solid, single piece polymer frame. Can't change them out, but I've heard that there are companies that make the sandpaper look and feel stick on type grip patches for Glocks that will also start making them for the Ruger KP95. Sorry, but I read about them in an article and can't remember the manufacturer. That might make it look better, but don't worry about the grip on a factory out of the box KP95.....I've had sweaty hands and just plain wet hands while shooting with no slip or twist at all.

DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER!It's like an ugly dog, faithful, dependable, and it won't bite you back less you abuse it!! My buddy has a $600.00 handgun To avoid a fight I won't mention the Manufacturer, damm it'pretty, but it doesn't shoot worth a darn, and constantly misfeeds. I wouldn't want to depend on it to save my life even if it is pretty! But then again what do I know I don't like high maintainance women either! I prefer the faithful, dependable type. Love my Ugly Ruger!!!

You could just go for the P89, two tone. It's a nicer shape and has changable grip panels.Every bit as reliable, but prettier maybe?
