The S&W 6590 is a transition gun from the 2nd to the 3rd generation. The 2nd generation was a 659. The 3rd generation was/is a 5906. The 6590 was a transition model between the two. It basically is a 3rd generation gun with a 2nd generation number with a "0" at the end of the model number. In there day they weren't that uncommon, but some people would be interested in it today as somewhat of a collector's piece. In reality is is just an uncommon variation, but for some, that is enough to make it desirable.
