Mosin Nagant questions

A couple of months ago I bought a Mosin Nagant M44 carbine. It shoots a little to the right. I have tried to push the front sight with a hammer and punch, but to no avail. Does anyone know if they make and where I could find a sight pushing tool for it, similar to those made for the AK? Also, I find the recoil to be kinda stiff on this gun. Does anyone know if there is some type of slip-on type recoil pad? I'd prefer this to some type of screw on alteration. I saw FAC has one for AR's. Would this work on the Mosin?

Was at the range and the gunsmith let me use his sight tool. Had to slide the sight over quite a bit, but it's right on now at 100 yds. I think the problem may be caused by the bayonnet on one side of the barrel!?
The kick is stiff, but thats the fun (sometimes).
Couldn't imagine fighting a war with this gun and having to shoot it more than 5 times at a time.
The slip on recoil pads are commonly used for shotguns. You need the large size. Any gun store or even Wal Mart would have them, but they are pricey at $9 each. I got a dozen for $30 from either sarco or samco, I forget which- the ad was in the shotgun news awhile back. I think they were $2.50 each, but the store in question has a minimum of $25 order, or else they charge a $5 surcharge, plus shipping, so unless you want a lot, might as well just go buy one at the local store. They work pretty well.
