I bought a J-15 2 weeks ago.I bought the EA lower with a 20" A1 upper with a cheap scope mount,Tasco 4x40 scope, cleaning kit,5 85% USGI 30 rd mags, black padded assault rifle case and 1500 rds of Norinco yellow box 223. All for the whopping sum of $800. The lower seems well built and now I have a preban. I think it was a good deal. Hope this helps.

I HAVE SOLD MANY OF THE RECEIVERS WHEN I GOT THEM FACTORY DIRECT AND NEVER HAD ANYONE UNHAPPY WITH THEM. I BUILT A NUNBER OF RIFLES FOR MY OWN USE AND HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THEM.

There is no such thing as a "pre-ban" lower, unless it was originally built into a complete working assault rifle before the ban. A bare receiver that was made before the ban cannot legally be built as an assault rifle. The ATF has ruled that to do so would be the same as manufacturing an assault weapon, regardless of when the receiver was made.

A good example of this is PWA (Pacific West Arms) who built several AR15 lowers prior to the ban in addition to complete rifles. They went out of business long before the "ban", so all their lowers were built before the ban. Still, reputable dealers will only sell PWA receivers as "post ban" receivers, because building them in assault weapon configuration would be a felony.

boeboe - all true and accurate ...

... but this is an instance where I don't understand the BATF logic ... if the receiver is "the gun" and the receiver was made prior to the ban, then "the gun" should be concidered pre-ban ... maybe the key word is "LOGIC"

... there are so darn many models to choose from!
