Does any one know or have any experience with the Zeiss Diafun 8 X 30 binoculars. They are the composite type. Cabela's sells them for $299-399. I was in Maine last week at a store that is having a sale on them for less then $250. I looked thru them, Kahels, & Swarovski, all the same power. To mine eyes the Zeiss were really brighter/clearer. With having the composite body & at that price, I'am not to sure of how they would hold up. Any one have comments.

I was talking to the Zeiss factory the other day, the rep was telling me that the optics are made in Germany and assembled here in the states. They also carry a transferable lifetime warranty.
I myself prefer Zeiss over most of the European brands. I also like Schmidt&Bender, but they don't make binoculars.

I don't think you'll regret going with the Zeiss.

There is no such thing as "poor quality" Zeiss. Some designs are lighter, some brighter, some more durable, and so on.

If the binocular does the job you need done -- OPTICALLY -- don't worry about details. Zeiss has already done that.
