I HAVE RECENTLY FOUND OVER 200 CIVAL WAR, PRE-WAR, AND EARLY 1900 WEAPONS. ONE IN PARTICULAR HAS BEEN HARD TO GET AN ANSWER ON. IT IS A SHARPS RIFLE,WOOD IS IN EXCELLANT CONDITION AS WELL AS ALL THE FINISH IT HAS NOT BEEN REDONE OR CONVERTED. SERIAL NUMBER IS # 213. MY GRANDFATHER AND MOTHER COLLECTED THESE WEAPONS WHEN THEY WERE VERY YOUNG, BOTH PASSED IN 1967, SO I AM SURE THIS IS UNTOUCHED. I WOULD LIKE TO GET AN OPINION OR A FEW ON WHEN ABOUT IT WAS MADE AND APPROXIMATE WORTH AS I INTEND TO INSURE THESE WEAPONS. I HAVE ALSO COME ACROSS A JEFFRIES SIDE X SIDE, FULLY ENGRAVED, WITH THE ORIGINAL CASE AS WELL AS ALL ACCESSORIES IT CAME WITH INCLUDING SOME PINFIRE CARTRIDGES. THIS GUN IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION,BARRELS ARE DAMASCUSS VERY CRISP AND THE LOCK ALSO IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH A TON OF ENGRAVING. ALL THE WOOD IS EXCELLANT,NO CRACKS OR CHIPS. I NO IT WAS MADE IN SCOTLAND BUT THAT IS IT. PLEASE ADVISE ME ON THE WORTH OF THIS GUN AND ANY INFO ON THE MFG. I AM COMPILING A LIST OF THE OTHER WEAPONS AND WILL POST THIS ASAP SO YOU CAN BE SURE NOT ALL THE RARE GUNS ARE IN MUSEUMS. THANKS, NEO

Hello Jeff! Iam afraid that you are going to have to provide us with a lot more information about the two guns you are asking about for any of us on this forum to help you. Copy down ALL the markings on the barrel and action, barrel length, approximately what caliber, rifle or shot gun,in short anything you can think of that might help identify these guns, then we can talk about serial numbers. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge on this forum, some members specializing only in one area, but we do need something to work with. I may be able to help you with the Sharps as this is one of my areas of interest and I also have a rather extensive collection of them. However,as noted above,I need a lot more information. Are we talking about a rifle or carbine, percussion ignition or cartridge, hammer on the side or hammerless? The list goes on and on,but Iam sure you get the idea that we need more information. Best of luck! Scout
