NEF Handi Rifles or H&R Ultra rifle

I'm thinking about picking up a NEF Handi Rifle or maybe the Ultra rifle in caliber .308. The ultra comes with a heavy barrel, no sights, and a laminated stock. Its a single shot design, break open action, like their line of shotguns. Anyone have any pros or cons with regard to accuracy? I am going to be shooting 100 to 200 yards with it, probably off a bench.
Thanks for any input!

Varmint Hunter, is the trigger pull the main reason that groups are not that great? Can the triggers be tuned up?

I have the nef handi rifle in 223 also, and it shoots a 3 shot cloverleaf at 100 yards with winchester usa factory ammo and no adjustments or tuning done to the gun. I have no problems with the trigger either. You simply cant beat the price for the money. Follow up shots are the quickest, but with that accuracy I havent missed an animal yet.

I just bought a .223 NEF SB2 last week. Sighted it in today. 3 shot group at a hundred yards under 1/2 in. I sighted my dads 30/06 Handi-rifle last fall. I was shooting with a friend with a Browning bar. It out shot it off the bench. They are a very good value. I think you will be pleased with it. I also own a Remington Sendero in 7mm mag and I'm more pleased with the Nef.

Chris, The trigger pull is fine.I just cant get a group to stay under 1 1/4".All the others I have owned shoot great. It is a beautifull gun with that lamanated stock,And 26" barrel, But I am going to find it a new home. I even have the Burris Z rings on it.

I was looking around and it appears that its been discontinued in 308 Winchester. Does anyone know if the Ultra or Handi rifle is still available in 308?
    Thanks
