I have two rifles and I am curious as to if anyone knows if they are C&R or not. One is a Ishapore Enfield in a 308 caliber. And what is the correct model designation of it? The other is a Spanish mauser in 308. And what is it's correct model designation and who made it? Thanks
The second admendment GUARANTEES the other nine and the Constitution!

Both are C&R eligible. The Ishapore is a model 2A buit in India at the Royal Firearms plant. The Spanish is a model 1916 and was probably built at the CETME (initials) plant in Spain. This is from the German K98 pattern. It is rechambered from 7x57mm. I don't know if that is correct.BATF has said that a military firearm must be in it's "original military configuration" in order to be considered a C&R. Even with a loose interpretation, there's no way that a rifle converted to a different cartridge could be considered "original military configuration". Unless you have a written ruling from BATF, I think that you have to consider such a firearm NOT to be a C&R.Neal

Without having to go through all the Articles in the C&R book, I think this technicality can be circumvented by the fact that the Spanish military did the conversion for use by the Spanish military.
