Ranger was a brand name manufactured for sale by Montgomery Wards. Without make and model information on the gun, probably only a serious expert with gun in hand could tell you who made it for Wards. Most of these storebrand guns (Sears, Wards, Coast to Coast) have little collector interest and modest value. You might try comparing it to the gun parts catalog from Numrich, to see if you could figure out which it is. The catalog has a cross over list which gives the underlying model in the manufacturers line up. It would be tedious, but likely could be done.
