I finally found ammo my Springfield likes. I have an 03-A3 that I had a custom rifle built from. That was 40 years ago. It was a new military issue rifle when I got it so I decided to keep the original 2-groove/2-land barrel and 30-06 caliber. From the outset I never could get any better than a 1-1/2" group at 100 yards. Many types of ammo produced over 3-inch groups. That is, until last year when I found Winchester's Supreme Power-Point Plus ammo. With the 150-grain bullet I now shoot groups under 1-inch (5 shots). And I can buy it at Wal-Mart! Don't have to look and look for special ammo...or send off for it...or pay 10 prices! I'm so happy I could turn a back-flip!The bullets are black--must be some kind of coating. Anyone know what it is? It also doesn't seem to gunk up the barrel as much as regular copper jacketed ammo does.
