What do ya'll think bout the .44 special cartridge as a manstopper? How's it go up against some of the other more popoular handgun cartridges?

Elmer Keith did a lot of shooting & hunting with his design 235 grain hp and 18.5gr of 2400 powder that boosted it into the magnum range. His 235gr gas checked, lead SWC hollow points expand to quarter size in water. This bullet also shoots very well in the .44 Mag at higher velocity.Keith's load is a handfull in a gun as light as a Charter Arms revolver but it has my vote for a one shot stopper.

I'd rate the .44 Special, .45 Colt, and .45 ACP as approximate equals.

A 44 special is a terrific man stopper and has the advantage over the 44 mag that it does not tend to pass thru as easily.
The second admendment GUARANTEES the other nine and the Constitution!

Although I've not used either for the purpose, I'd feel a lot better w/ the .44 Spl than the 9mm which many LEOs and the military use.
