I have the H&R laminate heavy barrel version, topped off by a Leupold 3x9. After trying a about a half dozen handloads, the best I got was 1" @ 100yds consistent 5 shot groups. The trouble with getting better accuracy from these guns is that you cannot free float the barrel because the forend is screwed to it. So, every time you shoot it, hold it different, etc. you will put a slightly different amount of pressure on the barrel. All considered, the gun is very accurate for what it is, well built, and certainly priced right.

There is a discussion group on Yahoo for these rifles at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nef-singleshot/ Sign up and check out their files. They have some accurizing tips and the discussion is pretty good. Apparently, where you hold the forend while shooting can affect shot consistency. Experienced NEF shooters say to rest the rifle as far back on the forend as possible and as consistently in the same place as possible for the best accuracy from the bench.
