My first 92 was a Spanish ElTigre clone. The exterior was beautiful as was the bore. It shot terrible. On dismantling it, the internal parts and springs looked like they were made by some Pakistani on a mountaintop with files and hand tools. This is typical of commercial Spanish made rifles and pistols I've seen. More current Rossi revolvers are a far cry, quality wise from US made revolvers. Before I would consider any Spanish made arm(including shotguns)it would have to stand close inspection and have a good history.Unless you get some good reliable endorsements of the Rossi, go for a Winchester or Browning remake of the 92 or the new Marlin 94. These are known to be high quality guns.

I've owned 2 of them. I bought one in 44/40 back when they first started chambering this caliber in the early 80's. I also owned one in .357 magnum it was probably one of the last ones made without a safety. The earlier gun was definatly better in fit and finish. Action was much smoother. I know a gunsmith who makes smoothing out these guns a major part of his business. It's a good solid gun, but if it's a newer one expect to have it worked over by a gunsmith, or plan on shooting it ALOT to get it smoothed up. WOODS

I have both the .44 and the .357 Puma. They are very good firearms and with 1,500+ rounds through both, no problems. They are not a Marlin or a Winchester. I looked at the new ones and in my personal opinion they are junk compared to the older ones: crudely built with rough action, fit and finish. Buy an older used model or get a Marlin or Winchester that's my advice.
Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.
