Colt Detachable Handle

Can any one tell me where I can find information about the markings on detachable handles? I've seen markings such as A B, A-2 and even some without any markings. I'm trying to find one to go with my Colt M4 upper, but I'm not sure what to look for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, John
