Yet another shipping long guns question..

I know this subject has been beat to death recently but here goes: I have a customer who lives in NYS and wants to ship 3 long guns to his brother in FLA. What choices if any does he have besides going through an FFL dealer ?

    Ship them to himself at his brother's address in care of his brother.

    U.S.P.S. PriorityMail w/tracking number; FedEx Next Day; UPS Next Day Air. Insure for BlueBook value with any carrier, keep receipts & follow tracking numbers closely.Edit:Oops - I didn't read the ...to his brother..." part.Replies noted below are correct: if ownership is to change, ALL firearms MUST be shipped to an FFL holder to complete the necessary transfer paperwork & other legalities.To do otherwise is (frankly) foolish these days; why take a chance on losing the right to own or use firearms?[This message has been edited by spclark (edited 03-27-2002).]

    He has told me that UPS told him he can only ship to a gun manufacturer not to a private person and the postal service here will not let him ship the guns either.

    hi what has worked for me is to take the action and receiver out of the stock and then send them seperatly ,the gun is unesembled this has worked very well for me in the past . later

    YOU'LL GO TO THE FEDERAL PEN FOR JUST AS LONG FOR SHIPPING THE RECEIVER BY ITSELF AS YOU WOULD ATTACHED TO THE WOOD...DON'T DO THAT..THE PART OF THE GUN THAT IS THE ACTION /RECEIVER IS "the gun".......TRUST ME!!!

    At least with UPS, you have to declare what is in the package. If you don't put the true contents and have a claim, it might get sticky in getting reimbursement; but I have shipped hundreds of guns by UPS and USPS and never had a loss...yet.
