Question on trigger--Browning BLR-81

I recently acquired a Browning BLR-81 .308. There is a significant amount of travel (creep?) in the trigger before it releases, almost like a two stage trigger. Is this common and is there a relatively inexpensive fix for this problem? I will have a dealer perform any service but when I talked with a local dealer they seemed to be unsure of what the problem could be.
By the way, it is the most accurate lever action gun I have ever owned. It is a less than minute of angle gun with both standard winchester and remington factory ammo. Not bad for a lever action.
