Winchester .22

I am looking for a Winchester .22 bolt action rifle that I shot back in the Boy Scouts at a camp in North Carolina. It wasn't a Model 67 and didn't have the plunger type safety in the back as I recall. I am pretty sure it had a fat bull-type barrel, maybe 24" or so. It had peep sights and was accurate as hell. We used them to qualify for the rifle shooting merit badge, which required you put 5 groups of 5 shots under a quarter at 50 feet amongst other things (these are 14yr olds needing to do this). Does anybody know what model this might be? If my memory serves correct, it may have had a texured type barrel, kinda like what the field grade Remington 870 Magnum shotguns have. I could be wrong though. Thanks for any help.

Oh, this would have been around 1994, and they looked pretty new at the time.

SOUNDS LIKE THE WINCHESTER MODEL 75. I HAVE SEEN THEM WITH A PARKERIZED FINISH WHICH SOUNDS LIKE WHAT YOU ARE DESCRIBING. MANY OF THEM USED IN DCM AND SCOUT PROGRAMS. PLENTY AVAILABLE ON THE OPEN MARKET FOR $300-$400.

I think the Model 75 was it looking at pictures on the web. Cheapest one I found was $500, but most seemed to be premium versions and didn't have the parkarized barrel. That was one accurate rifle though, especially considering the abuse they went through getting hundreds of round chucked through them every day.
