What is worthwhile to improve on a Glock 17? A stainless guide rod? A light weight striker? Sights? There are a lot of products but what is really worth doing?

Ive seen it all, night sights is the best improvement you can make to the Glock. In my opinion the factory got it right to start with.

you might want to get the extended slide release too. makes it a bit easier to change mags while shooting. I would definetly change the sights. meporlights or trijicons are good choices.

Don't change anything that would effect the functioning of the Glock. Its perfect from the factory, in my oppinion.

If anything, you may want to install a factory 3.5lb trigger connecter, because its what the gun was originally engineered to use.

Things like night sights that don't effect functioning, but may improve the way you interface with the glock are ok too. Just make sure they are properly installed by a professional, otherwise your front sight may go flying off, when you need it most.

When you start getting into recoil springs, guide rods, and stuff that effects functioning, thats strictly for the pro's. It can greatly decrease your guns reliability. The only time I ever see a glock malfunction is when someone's started putting junk in them they really don't need.

One thing i noticed in my Glock 35 is that when I put the entended mag release in it, if I put a new magazine in it and rack it hard up the magazine well, it will automatically release and chamber another round. Pretty cool huh, really handy on mag exchange drills.

New gun??? No, honey, I've had it for years.

Stay away from those light weight strikers. You may have trouble shooting some military surplus ammo with hard or recessed primers.
