Hi out there,
I picked up a Auto-Ordnance 1911A1 as a basket case, need help finding parts to put into shape. It has a Crown City slide, new Colt barrel and new Nat.Match bushing, need grip safety, and maybe match trigger and sear, what else??? the receiver has never been fired. I know there must be zillions of 1911 out there that have been upgraded to make them good shooters. I am not looking for a match weapon, but something close.

Thanks in advance

I had one pre-Kahr. Wasn't very good. Definitely would not risk a repeat even if improved.

They are alot nicer since Kahr bought them out, better fit & finish, and overall better quality in my opinion. Kahr has newer, better mfg equiptment so you get alot better pistol than the pre-kahr guns. I personally wouldn't even bother getting a pre-kahr. Unless you were going to use it as a platform and put some gunsmithing into it.

Kahr's purchase of them, had to be the greatest thing thats ever happened to auto ord. I think they actually make a heck of a nice 1911 now, comparable to the Colt 1991A1 and other base model 1911 type pistols. I like them alot better than Charles Daily's.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

I probably should clarify that I wouldn't buy anything from Kahr on principal that it supports a cult. That plus the fact that the guns they offer don't impress me. It's one thing to make something well cheaper or innovative, it's quite another to make something distinctively better.

Of coarse there is always something better.

I've never heard that Kahr supports a cult??? What do you mean by that, are they PETA supporters or something?

The guy who runs Kahr is tied to the Unification Church (Rev. Moon's cult) and is a major supporter of it. Everyone is entitled to support what they want to and do what they believe. Many people don't care what you do if your product meets their satisfaction. I'm not into boycotts, but I prefer to avoid those whose track records aren't in the same direction I would go or wish others to journey.

The pit bull was basically just a Commander size .45 from what I see in the catalogs. You should just get a cold Combat Commander if you can't find a pit bull. Take it to an ingraving shop and have a pit bull ingraved on it, and you'll have a better pit bull.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
