Im still looking for a gun to give my friend as a wedding present.I was originally considering a .45 of some type butt have got to thinking.I can handle a .45 but am not sure about him.We are the same height but I weigh 215 and he weighs 130.He is rail skinny so I dont want to give him something he cant control.Im thinking of changing my selection to a S&W combat masterpiece .38spl or maybe one of the taurus .38spl's because of their locking system as I know they will have children. Also I think .38spl would be better because if he is not home and his wife should have to use it she could control it as well. But what is the collective opinion? What do you all suggest?9mm/.38spl?Or should i just throw himsomething strong and just let him try to cope?

AN ARMED SOCIETY IS A POLITE SOCIETY
Any Sig, Glock, H&K, Colt, Beretta, Kimber, or Springfield Armory Pistol. Any S&W Revolver. Stay with 9mm, .40sw, .45acp, .38spl and you'll be ok. I was shooting a .45fmj using 230gr FMJ ammo all the time when I was 135lbs, before I hit my final growth spurt. When shooting thru an all metal gun with a little weight on it, recoil isn't as bad. I was using a Colt Govt. model.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

FWIW, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool cocked-and-locked 1911 guy but chances are you'll be looking down the barrel of a J frame if you enter uninvited.
