Any owners of these cartridges?

Where is loading data for the Ackley?

Is it worth the gain in velocity over the 8x57mm Mauser?

Can I shoot 30-06 to fire form brass in this caliber chambering?

Where can I get dies for reasonable money?

What else could I do to this old Mauser to make a custom hunting rifle out of it. I'm replacing the stock adding a scope mount, shortening the barrel to 24" and removing the old sites. Anything else? AS suggested I am also replacing the trigger.

I just wanted something crazy that wouldn't bee too expensive.

Stock = $80
trigger= $35
Scope mountand rings= $25
Reamer and Gauge rental = $40

thanks

    Could swear that I responded to this thread last night, but here goes again. Load that 8X57 to the same standards that it is loaded to in Europe, and you will not need to "Improve it" or go with the 8mm-06. The 8X57 is to Europeans what the 30-06 is to Americans. You should be able to get 2650-2700 with a 170 grain bullet if loaded to it's full potential. 2500 easily with a 200 grain bullet.

    I agree. I picked up a like new 8mm and decided that i would leave it in that caliber and load it up to 30/06 standard pressures. With the right choice of bullets, it makes a good showing.
