Remington model 11 experts????

A local seller has a Remington Model 11 for sale and claims it has a 21" factory barrel. Did the Model 11 come with a 21" barrel? It does have the ordnance markings on the receiver and barrel.

No scroll work on the receiver, so I'm thinking this may be a WWII gun.

Any info much appreciated.

Remington factory barrels came in 20" 26" 28" and 30" lengths. Remington Police Specials had 18 1/2" barrels and Riot Guns came with a 20" barrel. During WWII Remington sold all available stocks of model 11's on contract to the goverment with 20" barrels (60,000) and took sporting barrels and cut them down to 20 inch lengths to complete the contract. My WAG was that the Remington gun had a Lyman Cutts Compensator barrel and was shortened to 21", By factory??. You would have to look at the crown and determine if it was done professionally.

Also if you remove the forearm and look under the barrel, stamped on the lug is a serial number which should match the receiver's serial number. Many guns have swapped barrels according to choke preferences and unmatched serial #'s lowers the guns collectable value.
