Colt Det. Spl. Values

When a relative passed I ended up with an old Detective Special.
I believe it is a post war 1965 model and the 6 digit SN starts with 884.
The gun is in excellent physical condition but rather well worn from holster wear and a good deal of the two piece grip checkering is well rounded and smooth. I am sure this was a daily carry police officers gun but very rarely ever fired. The majority of bluing wear is just below the thumb release where the colt icon is and I suspect this gun was loaded and unloaded regularly.
How can I determine the value of this gun?
Thanks

Cosmetics is a big factor, as far as potential buyers are concerned though. Per your description the DS is shooter grade. Not going to be a big buck item.
