The year Marlin drilled and taped??

Can someone tell me what year Marlin started to drill & tap there 336 model??

    Pretty sure it was 1955 but not positive. Sure enough to place a bet though [;)]

    I have a 1953 Marlin 336. It is not a waffle top, and it is not tapped. I have read that Marlin started tapping the 336 receivers midway in 1954. I also read that Marlin offered a drill and tap service before then, but it would take a factory receipt to prove the work was done by Marlin.
