11-87 premier trap

My brother has one of these that functions 100% but cosmetically not so great. Especially not next to his Beretta a303. Anyways, He wants to put a slug barrel on the 11-87, some synthetic furniture, and use it for deer. He has been told by "someone" that a regular 11-87 slug barrel will not fit because they're different from the premier trap.
It looks to me like the only difference in the premier trap is the roll-mark on the receiver. Nothing jumps out at me saying the barrels won't be interchangeable with a regular 11-87. But I'll admit, I don't know squat about 11-87's of any flavor.
What's the deal? Proprietary barrels for the premier trap or interchangeable with regular old 11-87's?
