model 1927/1911 fring pin issue

just picked up an argentine m27/1911. When I dry fired it the firing pin was driven well forward and was lodged stuck stcking out the firing pin hold about 1/4 of an inch. The previous owner did some modifications (pach. grips, new safety etc) so I wonder if this is a real light spring or a different firing pin, or is it something else

Always a possibility that a .38 super/9 mm firing pin was mistakenly used. They have a different diameter than the one used for .45 ACP. Check to see if this is causing your problem?

The firing pin taper should be slightly under that of the firing pin tunnel, with the firing pin at full protrusion.
